The Corporate Awards 2016 organised by FabAfriq announced winners of its first awards competition on Friday, December 9th 2016 at Hotel Pullman Rabingah Douala. This two day event started on the 8th of December at Pullman Hotel with the women in leadership summit. The one of a kind summit hosted over 15 inspirational speakers who were all part of the Awards Ceremony.

Amongst companies that participated were, Hotel Pullman Douala Rabingha, Ecobank, Zenithe Insurance, Biopharma, Adax Petroleum, Vodafone, Yoomee Cameroon, Wartsila, UBA etc.

With its objective to recognise companies who strive for excellence in people management, the Corporate Awards rewarded 9 companies in Cameroon who make efforts to improve and implement good HR policies. In this first edition, the corporate Awards were classified into 6 categories that was research based.

The research Centre in the University of Buea took charge of researching participating companies as well as data analysis. The Coventry University in the U.K also took charge of data analysis. The public was given an opportunity to vote through an online poll, the nominated companies who were selected through random sampling of focus groups for these three categories; Customer Service, Corporate Social responsibility and Employer of choice. After months of research and voting, 9 companies left the event ceremony with recognition awards for outstanding HR policies in the different categories.

The much anticipated Corporate Awards hosted over 100 distinguished guests from Cameroon, England and Nigeria. It is but fair to say that the success of this event be attributed to Mr Perrial Nyodog and the other board members who did an amazing job supporting such initiative in Cameroon from start till finish.

The 2016 Corporate Awards team also recognised awarded some individuals who are doing great and inspirational things in the corporate world. They were dubbed “changed agents” and were honoured as well for their efforts to impact change in Cameroon Corporate world. The next edition of the Corporate Awards is schedule to take place in 2018, two years from now giving ample time for companies to readjust their HR policies and compete for the next edition. This is a healthy competition initiative that promotes better HR and better working conditions as well.
